September 16 - 22, 2013 - Photo A Day Project

:) Is it really Friday? Aw, well. Days continue to flow along at an accelerated pace, each one full of interesting people, places, and activities. I consult FatMumSlim's Photo-a-Day list and sure enough, each day magically presents a scene that fits the day's word perfectly.

Here are the things that showed up last week.

16 - Frame(s)

We and Our Families
adorn the hallway

17 - In Front of Me

Scripts for the upcoming November / December plays.
We'll be co-crew-chiefing: finding, scheduling, and directing crews;
choreographing and mapping set changes;
and helping schlep furniture on the OLT stage. Great Fun!

18 - Vintage

Ye six-year-olde PC. Practically ancient.

19 - What is This?

The most fabulous gum-massagers / toothpicks ever!

20 - In the Morning

Post-walk, picking up my yoga-buddy, Dana.

21 - Rule of Thirds

Lovelies at the Ottawa Gem Show

22 - Made Me Smile

Giant, serene inukshuks in Gatineau / Hull, Quebec.
If they could speak, it would be in beautiful, probably bass-toned French.

September 9 - 15, 2013 Photo A Day Project

Woowee! What a whirlwind of a week! I hope you all had as much fun as I did the last bit of time. It always seems that September is a time of new beginnings, perhaps because I often take on a new class in the fall. This one is no exception. Only this time, not only am I taking a class, I have had the great honour of being asked to coach some students, as well. Everything amped up as we moved into our second week of the semester.

Naturally, everything away from the college moved right along, too. So here you go: seven (or eight) more glimpses into my world.

9 - On the Wall

My second favourite nude man at our house
(Copper not included; he wears a coat.)

10 - Sweet!

One of my Besties, Vickie, surrounded by her loving kiddos:
Amber, Eric, grand-pup, Capone, and daughter-out-law, Julie.

11 - What I Did Today

Parked and approached the College from a different direction.
Always good to get a new perspective.

12 - Shadow

Confession: this was actually two days later.
(The 12th was a rainy, shadow-free day.)

My wonderful riding partner!

13 - Unexpected

Biggest score ever at Value Village:
ten tops, three pairs of pants, and seven books
for under $150!

14 - Liquid

Half-way point of the "shadow" bike-ride above

15 - Season

The gardens in full end-of-summer sprawl :)

September 2 - 8, 2013 Photo A Day Project

First thought this morning: Oof. I'm not a kid anymore. Of course, this isn't new news, but some days that message really "sings with a loud, clear voice" (something my grade-school teachers mistakenly said that I did.)

Pierre and I wandered around Calabogie racetrack for a few hours yesterday visiting with a few race buddies and watching elegant Porsches and $300,000(!) Lamborghinis race.

We then poked around in the woods near the lake, daydreaming about owning a cottage one day, and keeping an eye out for delectable chantrelles. Silly me, caught my toe on a stick and tripped -- really just bounced down onto a knee, barely skinning it, and was right back up -- but zowie! can I feel it today. A walk and some gentle yoga is definitely on my schedule. Hmm... at 55F/13C it may even be cool enough for a lavender epsom salts bath. :)

It was fun taking photos again last week, though there were a few days, with my busier schedule, when I didn't get the shot until late evening. I hope you enjoy them, and wish you a wonderful week ahead.

2 - My Name Begins With

Magog, QC has a street AND a church named after me! Wow!
Plus, who knew I was a saint?

3 - Lines

How in the world can actors memorize
50 pages of lines? Brilliant!
(Christmas Belles at the OLT Nov 26 - Dec 14. Should be great fun!)

  4- Alone

Post-cat-fight with the neighbourhood bully cat.
Copper's bed in our dark bedroom is the best recovery spot.
Poor baby... (no abscesses, just sore muscles.)

5 -Here Forever (perhaps should start with "Nothing is...")

This huge maple tree around the corner was ancient.
If you look closely on the right branch you will see
one of the guys who's been systematically cutting it down
over the past three weeks. Rather sad....

There is was, peeking between our two front evergreens last fall.

6 - Getting Ready

... for the next chapter in her life!
I got to attend Val's niece's wedding. Beautiful. Fun. Loads of love. :)

7 - White

Rose of Sharon is totally covered in these buds.
Sure hope she blooms before the frosts arrive.

8 - Made by Me

Even on a dead-end dirt road way out in the country
I can make Golden Retrievers appear!

End of August / Beginning of September 2013 Photo A Day Project

According to Facebook's last few days' multitude of grin-filled, first-day-of-school photos, summer is officially over. Labor (or Labour up here) Day weekend has passed, and the fashion police are watching out for wearers-of-white.

Last week was remarkably full, and here it is Wednesday afternoon, and I'm finally getting last week's photos up on the blog.  As you can see from the title of this post, the Project continues!

26 - Entrance

A new school year begins!
This is the main entrance of Algonquin's newest building:
The Student Commons

27 - Ten Minutes from Home

Walking north, here is what we find. :)

Walking south: Lynwood Park!

28 - Corridor

Offices of the School of Media & Design
and the corridor from N to T buildings.
Feels great to be back on campus!

29 - Lucky

Most of you know I am the luckiest woman in the world,
which means I could fill pages with this theme-of-the-day.
However, the lifetime-learner side of me is posting this
treasure-trove of a school website.

30 - Cluttered

Sometimes the Stuff takes over!

31 - Dangerous

Actually, the safest way to fly: Hot Air Balloons!

September's List

1 - Together

Labour Day Vacation to the Eastern Townships
with my two best friends.
(See what I mean about "the luckiest"?)
